#34 — I’m Just Gonna Chill For A Bit

Janie,

I’m so happy to finally wrap up this week. It’s been a wild time with new record breaking levels of tantrums, more night wakings, insomnia making a comeback, and Silouan putting in extra hours at work. But it’s finally over. I was able to end on a strong note by going for a very refreshing run along the Meramec River with Ginny.

I found an old brick I plan to turn into a candle holder for some hand dipped beeswax candles I plan to make!

I have returned to social media now that Lent is over. Back to treasure hunting on Facebook Marketplace. I also listed an thrifted oil painting for sale and it was gone in a matter of hours! If you’re looking for an easy side hustle, oil paintings are selling for ridiculous amounts of money right now. Anyway, my real purpose for logging back on was to find an armoire to help limit the size of our wardrobe, and to my horror, I saw far too many antique pieces flipped into entertainment centers! THEY CUT HOLES IN THE BACKS OF HUNDRED YEAR OLD FURNITURE FOR A TV. Maybe I sound a little dramatic, but it really rattled me. Not only because the pieces were ruined, but also because..

1. It really had me thinking about closets. I really don’t like closets. Too much storage space is a real problem and I find myself shoving things I don’t feel like dealing with into 1 of 2 closets in our bedroom. Our clothes don’t fill half of the other one even though we definitely own more clothes than we need. So I fill the extra space with clutter. An armoire would be the perfect size for both Silouan and my clothes. In a perfect world, we would knock down our closet walls and expand the bathroom. But we plan to sell in a couple years and nobody these days would buy a house that didn’t have closets in the main bedroom.

And 2. People will take better care of their TVs than a work of art that’s been reduced to.. TV storage. Everyone’s home has a TV as the focal point. Everything in the room revolves around the TV. I’ve fooled myself into thinking I’m better than everyone else because we don’t have a TV in our living room.. but we bring out the laptop every night.

In other dreary news, my runs got really out of whack this week because my period stuck again. It’s crazy how drastically different my periods are now after having kids. They’re way less painful but more annoying. I used to have 1-2 days of excruciating pain (completely debilitating, I’d have to call off work) and they’d last 3-4 days. Now I just have consistent dull aches for about 7 full days and I’m absolutely exhausted the entire time. It feel similar to first trimester fatigue. But, I was so excited to try a new period underwear, another recommendation from Ginny (I can’t wait for you guys to meet someday). They arrived just in time and were honestly a life saver because my periods are also SO heavy now. I’m wondering if that will change in time because this was my 5th cycle in over 3 years! I’m looking into diets and supplements for healthy cycles so if I notice any changes I can write more on that.

To end on a happy note, my sewing class is next week! How fun would it be if I get good enough to make matching clothes for our girls and Alder to wear long distance haha I’ll have to find a pattern to suit everyone’s preferences haha but I’ll be sure to post pictures if I end up making anything cool in class.
